"According to an article by Karen Smith Welch in the Amarillo Globe News, a severe hailstorm that struck Amarillo, TX in May 28 brought with it a surge of roofing permit requests, with no sign of letting up anytime soon. In fact, 86 per cent of the 2,194 roofing permits the city has already issued were for the month of June alone, based on city data. City building official Scott McDonald expects that thousands more of these roofing permits will likely be sought out by city residents in the weeks ahead. For example, violent storms are also expected to hit Toronto in the coming weeks that would place city residents in a situation similar to what Amarillo homeowners experienced some months back. Roofing contractors in Toronto will surely have similar business opportunities as those of their Amarillo counterparts."
